12 Creative Ways to Deal with Anger Quickly (That Work Quickly)

Anger happens! We all burst out due to annoying situations. And these situations can vary from person to person. For me, it can be a heavy traffic jam. Similarly, it might be a misunderstanding with a close friend in your case.

But is it okay to let this situational anger last longer? Of course not. It can shatter your relationships, affect your health and work-life if not handled instantly.

How to Deal with Anger

Here are a few creative ways you can implement to deal with your anger issues quickly.

1- Squeeze A Stress Ball

Are the toxic people around you making you lose your calm? Instead of yelling at them, squeeze a stress ball and reminisce about your happy moments. This activity relaxes your mind by reducing stress. Add a rhythmic breathing exercise to it to get better results.

Breathe in when you squeeze the ball and breathe out while unclenching it. Follow the process for at least five minutes and see the magic.

2-Do Some Stretching Work

Stretching is another effective way you can choose to calm down instantly. It will boost up your energy level by releasing endorphins into your bloodstream. Take ten minutes off from your busy schedule and try some gentle yoga postures sitting in one place.

Enlisted are some mind-relaxing postures you can try:

  • Holding and moving your ears clockwise and anti-clockwise
  • Rolling your shoulder and neck
  • Pinching your eyebrows repeatedly

3-Start Humming on a Musical Track

Let the music buzz off your wrath. Put in your earphones and start humming on an energetic musical track. Creating an anger playlist on your mobile phone with some refreshing songs will always help you.

Are you finding it tough to add the relevant songs to your anger playlist?

Explore the calming music album from Spotify. I always find it helpful in my case.

4- Pen Down Your Hard Feelings

We can always write what we can’t speak. So, you can empty your heart by penning down your feelings on a piece of paper. It’s a perfect way to track the emotional triggers that blew up your mood.

If you don’t have a pen and paper handy, the following steps will also work:

  • Drafting an email and then deleting it
  • Typing the negative thoughts on the cellphone’s notepad

5- Talk to a Non-living Object

Another sorted way to deal with your anger is talking to a non-living object. This object can be a chair, pillow, or soft toy. Consider it to be a person who irked you. Later, scream at it and let out whatever is bothering you.

Unarguably, your flamed-up rage will extinguish within minutes. Remember to do it when you are alone. Otherwise, people might consider you crazy.

6- Step Out for a Walk

When you don’t know how to react to an exasperating situation, a nice walk is all you need. Lace up your sneakers and step out. It’s a tried-and-tested way to soothe your nerves and swipe away your anger.

Can’t go out? Walk to and fro on the balcony or maybe at the terrace. You can also do some hand rotation exercises while walking.

7- Add Something New to the Routine

If your work-from-home schedule is annoying you, it’s better to add something new to your routine. Take a break from your day-to-day schedule. Start trying different things to chuck off your anger.

You can change the position of your work desk. Or surprise your family with a dinner treat by learning a new recipe from YouTube. Do what you like and feel the zest in you again.

8- Get Isolated in a Room

Isn’t it a guilty feeling to badmouth someone just because you were annoyed? To avoid this situation, get inside a quiet room and isolate yourself. Close your eyes and assume you are at a picturesque place.

Observe the details of the imaginary scenery. Calm yourself down by contemplating the answers to some questions, such as:

  • How deep is the sea?
  • What is the color of the sky?

9- Look for a Humorous Approach

Kill your anger by bombarding humor to the situation. Look for ways to laugh. Scroll down some meme posts on Instagram until you burst into laughter. Besides that, you can watch some funny scenes of your favorite movie on YouTube.

In case you want to stay away from the screen, start faking out your grin. Smiling helps release the hormones like Dopamine and Serotonin. The former elevates happiness, whereas the latter reduces stress.

10- Sprinkle Cold Water on Face

Sprinkling cold water on your face will always cheer you up. No matter how irritated you are! I tried this trick at my office when my boss yelled at me for no reason. I immediately went to the washroom and washed my face with cold water 3-4 times. It worked, and I felt relaxed.

Besides washing your face, take a cold-water shower if you are at home. It acts as a gentle electroshock therapy against stress and anger.

11- Discuss with a Close Friend

We all have that supportive friend with whom we can share everything. So, the next time you are about to blow a gasket, call your close buddy to discuss the entire situation. Maybe you get a new perspective out of the conversation.

This perspective will help you in analyzing the cause of your emotional instability. You will be able to empathize with the person who bothered you.

12- Chant a Mantra Repeatedly

Don’t allow someone to get into your nerves. Think of a word or phrase and start chanting it. Make it a mantra to overcome your anger. Repeat it in a rhythm until you achieve tranquility and focus.

Are you unable to decide on a word or phrase to repeat? Highlighted below are some ideas for you:

  • I’ll be Okay
  • I inhale calm and exhale stress
  • Relax
  • Take it easy

Final Thoughts,

You can escape one hundred days of sorrow if you handle your anger patiently. Pen down your feelings, do some stretching work, listen to music or try something else. Do whatever suits you, but treat these outburst issues before they become huge.

I hope the discussed points will help you to deal with your anger quickly.
